ShopRite Donates More Than $1.5 Million for Local Charities at the 2022 ShopRite LPGA Classic
Galloway, NJ (June 10, 2022) – Dozens of community-based organizations, including food banks and hospitals, received grants totaling more than $1.5 million during a luncheon Friday hosted by retailer-owned cooperative Wakefern Food Corp., as part of the annual ShopRite LPGA Classic Presented by Acer.
The ShopRite LPGA Classic Presented by Acer brings the most talented women in professional golf to Seaview’s Bay Course in Galloway, and it is a tournament tradition to support nonprofit organizations that fight hunger, help families, and invest in research for the treatment of life-altering diseases.
“The entire ShopRite and Wakefern team is so proud of our longstanding partnership with the LPGA tour that -- for more than three decades -- has raised nearly $40 million for charitable causes that improve lives,” said Karen Meleta, Chief Communications Officer for Wakefern, the logistics, distribution and merchandising arm for ShopRite stores. “This luncheon is an annual event that is such a special part of our LPGA tradition. It’s an opportunity for us to celebrate the community champions who help so many people."

The ShopRite LPGA Classic Presented by Acer takes place Friday through Sunday, June 10-12. The 144-player field will be headlined by World No. 1 Jin Young Ko, and joining Ko in headlining the field will be several of the world’s top-ranked players, including Lydia Ko (4), Nasa Hataoka (7) Inbee Park (9) and Brooke Henderson (11); past champions from the past 10 years including defending champion Celine Boutier, Mel Reid (2020), I.K. Kim (2017), and two-time winners Anna Nordqvist (2015-16) and Stacy Lewis (2012, 2014), Hall-of-Famer Karrie Webb (2013) and Brittany Lincicome (2011). 2019 AIG Women’s Open champion Hinako Shibuno, competing as a rookie on the LPGA Tour in 2022, will also tee-it-up at the ShopRite LPGA Classic for the first time since 2020.
Sunday’s final tournament round will broadcast live on the CBS Television Network and stream live on Paramount+, marking the first time in tournament history the ShopRite LPGA Classic will air on network television. GOLF Channel will air the first two rounds and the first hour of Sunday’s final round, with CBS airing the final two hours.
